You might have just convinced me to actually buy a jar of tahini with the freezer portion trick... I usually buy in my hummus because whilst I love hummus (eating it slathered on toast topped with sliced, seasonal salted tomatoes for breakfast right now in fact), but tahini by itself? It has been joked before how strange it is that I'm a Jewish woman who can't stand tahini.

Haha, I can see that becoming a running joke! The life motto of most of my Jewish friends seems to be "everything is better with tahini". And having dug into food cultures that use it extensively over the past few years, I'm inclined to agree with them :) And I always keep chickpeas in the freezer, such a lifesaver! Glad you found the tip useful.

Does it help that I've heard it described as 'jewish peanut butter' and I can't stand that either?? Maybe I've not tried a good one yet, I live in hope as I like toasted sesame in an Asian context.

That’s a terrible description! Appropriation and bad analogy all in one. Do try a few different ones, quality varies massively. Took me a year to find a good one after moving to Istanbul (Turkish mass produced brands are really bad).

Love the hummus tips. Thank you. I often make a batch thats far too big for me to eat before it goes off/bubbly...can i freeze it?

Yes, hummus freezes reasonably well! For best results, I usually freeze the chickpeas and make smaller batches at a time, but you can also freeze the ready hummus.
